We used MATO for 3 separate transfers. Here’s the good and not so good. One of the drivers we had twice was the best driver we’ve ever had over many different countries and travels. Service oriented - focused in the road the entire time no phone distractions - accommodating. Wonderful driver. Booking was easy and quick and communication with the owner for booking was easy and good and prompt. The only "bad" - the great driver asked us if he could bring his wife the next day. We hired a private driver because we want private. He asked us at the end of one of our days. We were put on the spot as a non confrontational person we felt stuck and pressured. I also assumed this was allowed because the driver was so professional the entire time it never occurred to me he must be breaking policy. We reluctantly agreed because we don’t like pressure and didn’t want to spend a 13 hour day with him the next day if he was upset with us. I again also assumed it was a common occurrence because he asked. Well we do private so we can do our own schedule on our timeline and be with just my kid and I. Not a group. Having her ruined our whole day. The smell in the car was so bad we had to keep opening the windows: my daughter had to hold a cup over her nose the entire time. It was nauseating. They did the same activities we did at the destination so it was very awkward. Line we had shadows with us. Like we were a group instead of just being able to hang out with my daughter. The driver noticed we kept opening windows and asked why since we hadn’t the day before. I let the owner know and he did nothing to resolve this. He did apologize and say action would be taken and told me I should’ve let him know the night before. I understand that side as an owner but as a customer - again I assumed it was allowed because the driver asked. And secondly I didn’t want to spend 13 hours with someone upset with me because he wanted his wife to come and I was the reason she couldn’t. Either way our day was going to be not what we planned. The owner wasn’t willing to give us 50% refund for the way this negatively impacted our last day. I thought that was a fair request. Though the owner isn’t the one that caused this I do believe a company needs to take responsibility for their employees actions. We paid a lot of $ for these three trips since this company is priced the highest of all the private transfer companies i checked into. I booked it thinking it was higher end service. This was not a transport that was a few hundred dollars it was around $500. That was one of the 3 transports we booked with MATO. For that price I don’t expect to have my day negatively impacted the way it was and if something does happen like it did as the result of am employees poor choices and actions I do expect a company to do something as a good will gesture since the service was not what we booked. We booked a private driver and got a driver and his wife
